Kumulipo Gourd Babies

A husband of gourd, and yet a god,
A tendril strengthened by water and grew
A being, produced by earth and spread,
Made deafening by the swiftness of Time
Of the Hee that lengthened through the night,
That filled and kept on filling
Of filling, until, filled
To filling, ’tis full,
And supported the earth, which held the heaven
On the wing of Time, the night is for Kumulipo (creation),
’Tis night.  - 15th verse of the Kumulipo

"The Mystical Gourd"

Please help me to collect myths and folk- tales pertaining to gourds. I am searching for cultural stories that include references to gourds as magical or spiritual objects. I am interested in all cultures and religions. If you know of a story or other interesting facts about the humble gourd, please e-mail it to me at jennysart@msn.com or mail it to:

The artist is a receptacle for the emotions that come from all over the place:

from the sky,

from the earth,

from a scrap of paper,

 from a passing shape,

from a spider's web.
